Sharon Springs Community - Meet the Neighbors!

Sharon Springs Holdings is more than a country estate. Each of the properties occupies a significant place in the history of Sharon Springs, a preeminent Victorian-era wellness community founded to take advantage of what Native Americans discovered long ago - the healing powers of natural mineral springs flowing through and around the Village.

Sharon Springs' resurgence captures the same spirit of discovery, renewal and community that connects past, present and future. We invite you to explore the Sharon Springs community and surrounding areas of upstate New York via the icons below and the Meet the Neighbors tab above. Welcome to the community!

Sharon Springs Resorts & Spa

Historic Renovation/historic implications

Sharon Springs, Inc., led by owner Kyusung Cho, has embarked on a journey to potentially transform the Village of Sharon Springs. The South Korean investor and travel agency executive is currently undertaking a projected $10 million renovation of the Imperial Bathhouse, with a projected $5 million restoration of the former Columbia Hotel and a $20 million rebuild of the former Adler Hotel planned to follow in subsequent phases. These undertakings could resurrect the historic spa business that originally brought Sharon Springs to prominence as a center of wellness and health.

Mr. Cho is also the owner of Dongbu Tour & Travel, which transports 40,000 visitors between New York City and Niagara Falls each year. (source - company website)

The American Hotel

Historic Renovation/SIGNificant contributions

The American Hotel is a National Register of Historic Places hotel located on Main Street in Sharon Springs. Built by Nicholas LaRue, (ca. 1842) and vacant for more than 30 years, the 3 story Greek Revival structure was in serious disrepair when purchased in 1996 by current owners Doug Plummer and Garth Roberts. After extensive renovations, The American re-opened on May 23, 2001. Now celebrating its 22nd season, it is a key component and symbol of the revitalization of Sharon Springs and has been featured on HGTV Restore America, The Food Network-Rachel Ray $40 A Day and numerous articles written about Sharon Springs.
